Any Oppos have experience with auto upholsterers? The leather on my seat is too slippery and the bottom bolsters are collapsing, which got me to look into aftermarket seats. It seems like fitment may be an issue, and nothing is going to match my blue interior.
Then I thought about having the driver’s seat redone with cloth and/or Alcantara, and that actually seems like a sweet option. I could keep the color, and it would fit the stock persona of the car.
I’m wondering how well it would turn out, how well it would last, whether the color would fade, how to find a good shop... How much would one seat run in price?
UPDATE: found a couple blue/black samples I really like. Think black leather surrounding blue Alcantara or fabric:

I believe White Trash Steve does upholstery for a job but I could be confusing him for a different Opponaught or perhaps the same Opponaught in a different dimension.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

Taking a stab in the dark here, do any other Honda/Acura seats fit onto the S2K rails without (or with little) modification?

It really depends on what you want... I am looking at redoing a Citroen DS interior now, front a rear seats, and it owuld cost me roughly 2000$ for PERFECT looking stuff...

I think I have seen s2k seats in a prelude, so maybe it works the other way around? If not you can get custom brackets for $100 or so.

I’ve seen S2K seats in everything, heck they fit in TL’s (with heavy modification). I don’t think I’ve seen it the other way around tho

The seats are commonly stolen from S2000's, so I imagine they are the better ones in the family.

OK, that makes it sound like a single seat, very well done, is in my expected price range.

As a alternate option jdm dc5 recaros fit in the car, are much better that s2k seats & come in a matching blue. You will need rails (bride??). It’s kinda a pricey option (1200$ ish all in) but looks oem (no door or glovebox interference)

It’s so bad that there’s a guy in CA who organizes special runs of locking bolts for the S2000 seats. I just put mine on yesterday

These are only available used, yah? I think between the price and the waiting around for a clean set, it’s not the best option

I looked into doing 2 door panels in perforated alcantara to match my Abarth GQ seats, and they wanted $300-350 for labor and 2 yards of the material - provided I took the panels off and prepped them for installation.

That is definitely sexy!
I’ve found that upholsterers can very widely in cost and quality and that there’s no real correlation. They’re also highly localized, which means you really need local feedback to find a good one in your particular area.
I got Recaros for my E36 M3 out of an Evo X because recovering the original seats was going to be too much - and I paid $900-ish for the Recaros. I couldn’t find a good, reasonable local company. I kept an eye out for a good deal for almost a year before I finally pulled the trigger. You can live with crappy seats for a long time...
The factory seats were the most comfortable seats I’ve ever had (22 hour drives with zero complaints). The Recaros are nearly as comfortable and a million times more supportive in spirited driving.
I don’t recall how supportive S2K seats are, but doubt they’re as bolstered as the Recaros are.
Hard decision - S2K seats are valuable and quite good. They’d be worth reupholstering, but would also likely pay for a set of Recaros if you got rid of them.
If resale value is a concern I’d lean toward keeping them and recovering them. Alcantara will add some stiction, but will also wear faster than just going with normal leather. If you’re not worried about resale, you really can’t go wrong - do what you want / what makes sense for you.

Used dc5 recaros are on the cheaper end of good s2000 seat options :( Clazzio seat covers look really good & can be had with suede centers. Also the JDM S2K type s had cloth center seats like the CR but in normal colors, they run a bit cheaper than dc5r
